FormaPlus: Non-Invasive Skin Tightening for the Body
What is FormaPlus?
Forma is a well known skin tightening treatment that is used across North America to tighten and rejuvenate the face. A less common but equally impressive use of the Forma technology is on the body, and this treatment is called FormaPlus.
As most people know, when we age, our body begins to produce incrementally less collagen every year. This process starts anywhere between the ages of 25-30 years and continues for the rest of our lives. If you ask any aesthetician, dermatologist or skincare specialist, they will likely tell you that most people are fairly good at their facial skin care, but often significantly neglect the skin on the rest of their bodies. Skin is a dynamic organ which means that it is constantly changing and regenerating, but there are certain things we can do to prevent premature signs of ageing that can be caused by this passive neglect.
Forma works by using radio frequency energy and heat to cause controlled trauma to the tissue. The body then responds to this trauma by regenerating collagen in the tissue and tightening the existing collagen. This treatment works best when performed in a series of weekly sessions. Although benefits can be seen instantly after treatment, for long term results we would advise 8 weekly sessions.
Forma requires patience for results. It’s not a treatment that provides instant gratification, and like any non-invasive procedure, will require maintenance over the years. It is an excellent choice to treat areas of your skin that have begun to show more laxity due to aging, weight loss or years of sun exposure.
So what are some of the best areas on the body to treat with Forma?
Our favourite spots include the chest, the stomach, the buttocks, the back and above the knees. The examples below demonstrate why we love this treatment so much!
Is FormaPlus for you?
An ideal candidate for FormaPlus is someone who is within the age of 25-60 and has started showing signs of laxity in their skin. You may be an ideal candidate for Forma to one area but not yet others- it’s normal for people to notice changes in their skin at different rates across the body. Forma is best to perform when you can be sure to have proper sun protection, so many people choose to do the treatment in the colder months of the year. That being said, it can be done during the summer as long as you’re able to commit to wearing SPF or keeping the treatment area covered in the sun.
Can FormaPlus be preventative?
Absolutely! Although FormaPlus is fantastic at treating visible signs of laxity, it also provides excellent prevention of premature aging. A consultation is key when you’re considering this treatment for prevention alone - we want to start treatment at a time that is right for your body, and beginning preventative sessions too soon can be wasteful of your time and money.
